ISIAH LAING BANS SIZZLA KALONJI & D'ANGEL FROM STING

According to Laing, Sizzla has been banned because he was repeatedly warned not to go on stage during the Boxing Day event and promote hate music.

Laing continued that although D'Angel was not booked for the show, she is banned as a patron because of her "embarrassing" stint during Ninja Man's set.

"We repeatedly told Sizzla not to do any hate music and he went up there and did it. D'Angel is banned for at least 5 years as a patron. We don't need your money D'Angel. Stay home. Watch the event on pay-per-view next year."

In a release to the media, the promoters of Sting - Supreme Promotions and Downsound Records - stated that that they have taken steps to force "corrective actions" from some artistes.

"We remain committed to advancing Reggae/dancehall music and the industry. We will continue to strive to improve our product and are confident that with your support we will achieve our aim," a spokesperson said.

PRGirlAngel Views-
While D'angels impromptu "performance" was a bit "much", quite honestly, it was not any more slack than some other female performers. Therefore, the explanation of her being banned because of embarrassment sounds more like an excuse, making the decision seem more justified. Simply put, she was not booked for Sting, and jumping on stage more than once, was done in bad judgment. Banning her for 5 years does seem extreme. I am interested to hear what the outspoken female deejay has to say about this.

Sizzla will never stop the fire from burning! Anyone booking Sizzla for any type of event is fully aware of this. He has never waivered his views and outspoken lyrics against gays, and injustice, so why would they think he would do it for Sting?

Sting was a great production this year. From the vibrant stage to the artist performances, however, because for the first time the stage show was broadcast on pay per view, organizers may have expected artist to water down their performances for a broader audience. Sorry, not gonna happen! Sting is Sting, and should not, and could not be watered down by any means.

SUPERCAT RETURNS TO JAMAICA

Sting 2013 has created history bringing "The Original Don Dadda" - Supercat back to the island of his birth, Jamaica. This marking the 30 year anniversary of the world renowned "Sting Jamaica", producers of the show are pulling out all the stops this year. The show boast of local and international A-list artist such as Grammy Award winning, Wyclef Jean, platinum recording rapper, 2 Chainz, Beenie Man, Mavado, the legendary Super Cat and many more.
December 22 2013 was William Maragh the "Wild Apaches" first time back in Jamaica in over 10 years! His arrival in Jamaica was nothing short of shock, excitement and disbelief. His appearance has changed since the public last seen him, but his wit and charisma remains the same. Social media went into a frenzy when photos and videos began being posted from his Homecoming Celebration at Cockburn Gardens Primary & Junior High School, St. Andrew Jamaica.
The Don Dadda previously spoke about his ills with the music industry on an on air interview with Link Up Radio 93.5 FM in New York / Hot 102 Jamaica. In this same interview he spoke of conspiracies and actual threats against his career and life. It was also noted there had allegedly been a broadcast on Fox 5 News reporting his "death" in 1996, stating he died in Kings County Hospital. An apparent case of identity theft, or conspiracy derived from unknown sources, changed his life, career, and status dramatically. As a reggae ambassador, Super Cat is quoted as saying "I going to stand up as a great revolutionary into this business of ours that's called reggae, because there's a reggae revolution going on, and I'm a soldier, in the army of reggae, and if they cannot represent themselves, well them goin have to kill Dadda for it, for I am standing up for mine, and not only for mine, for the rest of the youth them out of the ghetto".
This could be the very come back Super Cat fans have long awaited. Shows are being promoted in US states for the months following Sting. The Don Dadda IS BACK!

After a 12 week competition on the Emmy-winning talent show, Tessanne Chin took the title last night, "Winner of The Voice 2013, Season 5"
The Jamaican singer wowed judges and fans with a classic, hit song, “I Have Nothing” by the late Whitney Houston on Monday’s final live performance show.
"I never felt safe," Chin said after Monday's performance. "Not until last week."
It's clear Tessanne saved her best for last. None of her recordings reached Billboard's charts during the season though her rendition of Paul Simon's "Bridge Over Troubled Water" is poised to enter the Hot Digital Songs chart on Wednesday on sales of 60,000. Her biggest seller previously was her take on Cliff's  "Many Rivers to Cross," which sold 24,000, according to SoundScan.
Her plans are not to make a "reggae" album, but is quoted as saying (reggae) "will always be a part of what I do," she said after Monday's performances. "Maybe not in a direct sense, but my music will always have that (swagger). It's who I am. I think the key to making great music is to stay true to yourself so (the listener) can relate to that."
The finale boasted a star-studded set on The Voice as R&B and Pop A-listers, Lady Gaga, Celine Dion, Ne-Yo and OneRepublic all took to the stage to celebrate the season five finale and welcome  the shows newest champion.

Chins fellow Jamaicans could not have been more proud! Instagram and twitter was on a #TeamTessanne #TeamJamaica overload while the finale aired! The picture above shows fans and friends at a watch party / celebration in the community of Half Way Tree Jamaica.

BOUNTY KILLER UNLEASHES NEW SINGLE "THE HARDER THEY COME"

Bounty Killer Unleashes New Single Inspired by Iconic Movie "The Harder They Come"

Now celebrating its 40th anniversary,  The Harder They Come has inspired countless reggae music love-ins on college campuses and among Jamaicans around the world.  Now the iconic movie can add a dancehall rhythm to its list of tributes, as One Jam Music releases Bounty Killer's blazing  Harder -- a devastating response to all his challengers, and the teaser to One Jam's latest production, the Harder Than Hard album slated for release in early 2014.

Harder Than Hard is the brainchild and labor of love of One Jam Music, a boutique reggae music label. The project was inspired by the classic 1972 Jimmy Cliff film written and directed by Perry Henzell and co-written by Trevor D. Rhone. Considered a cult classic, The Harder They Come was the first film made in Jamaica shortly after independence, one of the most successful independent films of all time and “the soundtrack album has joined Marley’s catalog as reggae’s cornerstones” (SF Chronicle).

Continuing the firsts, Harder Than Hard will be the first riddim-driven album that will use samples and themes from one movie as the basis for all the songs on the compilation. The album, slated for release in early 2014, will feature a star-studded cast of established and rising dancehall and reggae artists and will lead off with the single Harder from Grammy nominated international star Bounty Killer.

On the eve of "Sting" 2013, dubbed "The greatest dancehall show on earth," the dancehall world has been eagerly awaiting a response from Bounty Killer to challenges and insults hurled at him in recent months from Mr. Vegas, Anthony B, and most recently Mavado. The Warlord has finally responded, and it is with devastating impact. The musical response Harder, which conjures up memories of a favorite dancehall era when lyrical battles were en vogue and reached their highpoint at Sting, draws dialog samples from The Harder They Come, and in true Killer style delivers a verbal lashing to his challengers.

While the single for Harder will be available on all major digital outlets served by digital giants 21st Hapilos Digital, the 40-year legacy and enduring potency of The Harder They Come is being celebrated by the film’s owners, International Films Limited (IFM) and their distribution partners. IFM, Syndctd Entertainment and Xenon Pictures will digitally release the film on iTunes and through VHX in late December. A blu-ray is set for Spring 2014 and various Harder They Come theatrical screenings / reggae music parties will roll out through 2014 on college campuses and with Jamaican diaspora groups and roots reggae groups in Boston, Brooklyn, Toronto and all over the globe.

VYBZ KATEL UPDATE

VYBZ KARTEL UPDATE: FORENSIC SCIENTIST, VICTIM'S SISTER & GIRLFRIEND TESTIFIED

A forensic investigator went on the stand in the Vybz Kartel murder trial today (Nov 21).
Kartel and four other men are on trial for the murder in the Home Circuit Court.
Reports are that the investigator has testified that he found bloodstains at the entertainer's home in Havendale, St Andrew where Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams was allegedly beaten before being killed on August 16, 2011.
It is said that Detective Constable Avril Thomas from the Major Investigation Taskforce (MIT) has testified to processing a scene at the four-bedroom house on 7 Swallowfield Avenue, Havendale, St. Andrew as part of investigations.
Reports are that the detective told the court he found spots of blood on a door-jam in one of the rooms and watermarks on the floor.
In the meantime, under cross-examination by defence lawyers Pierre Rogers this morning (Nov 21), the sister of the deceased said following an incident at her home on Sunday August 14, 2011, she instructed her brother to leave the community of Waterford in Portmore. She also testified to helping him to leave the area. She continued by saying that when she spoke to her brother on the Monday, she did not know where he was at that point and that she later found out on Tuesday that he was in Waterford.
Reports are that when asked if she was afraid about her brother’s whereabouts, she began to cry and said she only wanted to know that he was alive.
During her re-examined by prosecutor, Leighton Morris, she said she gave her brother $3,000 to help him to leave Waterford.
Also, to testify was the girlfriend of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams, she testified that the last time she saw Williams was about 9 a.m. August 16 when she was going to work.
Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, is jointly charged with fellow entertainer Shawn Campbell, popularly known as Shawn Storm, André St John, Shane Williams and Kahira Jones.
The fifth co-accused, fashion designer Calvin Haye, was released yesterday (Nov 20) after the prosecution said they found no evidence against him.

NEW MUSIC FROM FYAKIN - "JOURNEY"

FYAKIN CONTINUES THE JOURNEY -  "Journey" - This track is Fyakin's first independent release under his own label (Nyle Banks Music).  Fyakin, who is from St. Andrew, Jamaica, began his professional career in 2005. He's had the fortune to work with a variety of producers as well as perform on some of Jamaica's most popular stage shows. In late 2011 Fyakin traveled from Jamaica to Burlington, VT (USA) for a video shoot of "Old Vibes" (Upsetta Records). In fact it was during that lengthy excursion that Fyakin penned the lyrics for "Journey". This track gives us a glimpse into the artist's thoughts on pursuing the path of Rastafari while simultaneously perfecting his craft as a performer, songwriter, and producer. Through his poignant lyrics, Fyakin brings us to the understanding that while there is often struggle and obstacles – the blessings of Rastafari bring great peace and joy to life’s journey.

"Journey" was written, produced, and is performed by Fyakin.

BAJAN QUEEN RIHANNA RELEASES VIDEO FOR "POUR IT UP"

It seems a little late as "Pour It Up" has been popular on the charts and in the clubs for several months now, but Riri has WOW'ed the RIRI NAVY with her latest video. She posted pictures on her instagram page prior to the release of the video that got her fans in a frenzy! The video displays a very sexual side of Riri, far from the girl "Pon The Replay" we met many years ago. She has certainly grown and matured into one sexual, Chanel drenched, likably ratchet Caribbean Queen. Check out the video below courtesy of Rihanna's VEVO channel on Youtube.

DANCEHALL PRODUCER "ROACH" ALLEGEDLY KILLED THIS MORNING

It is being rumored and reported that producer, manager, and road manager, Patrick Samuels aka Roach, was shot and killed this morning in St. Andrew, Jamaica. Details are very sketchy at this time, but I received over 10 tips about this story this morning. Allegedly, Roach was shot in a gas station by unknown assailants, numerous times, and even as the car drove off, shots were continued to be fired. Roach was formerly Vybz Kartel's road manager, and also managed dancehall artist Navino for some time. Musically, he is most popular for speaking his mind, and his very controversial interviews. Roach was not a stranger to controversy, but he was loved, and equally talented. He is most popularly known for production contributions on Mavado's hit song "Settle Down" on the Overtime Riddim in 2011. R.I.P Roach.

KONSHENS LAUNCHES SNEAKER LINE "KONZ876"

While taking over the dancehall charts, with ever flowing hits, Konshens is proving to be more than an artist. He has entered into the fashion world with a new sneaker line "Konz876".
Konshens has been promoting the new line for the last couple weeks. He appeared on the "Johnny Live Morning Show" on Sun City Radio 104.9 FM, Portmore JA, last week to promote his new line. He was more than enthusiastic, as he should be, the line is both fashionable, and hip! The sneakers are said to retail at $129 USD a pair. Pricey much? Yes, close to the price of a pair of Jordans! But Konshens is confident in his high quality, fashionable line.  Konshens was quoted as saying;
“I chose a shoe line because you can bring more culture into it. It takes a lot more effort as opposed to printing up T-shirts, plus there is a huge market for it.”
“Dancehall and Reggae music have the widest range of core fans worldwide and I think the only thing that separates us from other more mainstream genres is the lack of entrepreneurship on our part as artistes,” Konshens added.
Konz876 is said to have two stores opening in Jamaica. One in Montego Bay, and the other in Kingston.
The first launch party will be in Kingston Jamaica at The Quad on September 13 and the second launch will take place at the Donway Village on the Hip Strip in Montego Bay on September 14. Konshens has been advertising his product on his recent 2 week worldwide tour, and creating quite a buzz for himself. Great to see the entrepreneur spirit spreading amongst Jamaican artist. Good luck Konshens!

QUEEN OF DANCEHALL LADY SAW, JOINS FORCES WITH RAPPER FloRida FOR REMIX OF "HEELS ON"

Hip Hop artist FloRida , and The Queen of Dancehall Lady Saw team up for the remix of her chart topping song "Heels On".
In a recent interview, Saw was quoted as saying "I'm so happy about it. I had my engineer and a few others from the industry listen to it and they are all so excited, it's the way he did it, it's jazzy and fun." The single is set to be released sometime this month.

Lady saw met FloRida initially at the yearly event, Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay Jamaica. It's said that FloRida pitched the remix to Lady Saw, and she of course obliged. This release is already growing a buzz in the street! The official "Heels On" video featured veteran artist Shaggy, and the chemistry and steamy sexually charged video put Lady Saw back at the top after a few quiet years.
This is not "The Queens" first collaboration with a Pop Star. She has notably recorded successful crossover hits like, "Underneath It All" No Doubt ft. Lady Saw, which was 3 times platinum, as well as won a 2002 Grammy for "Best Performance by a Duo or Group". She has also recorded tracks with Nicki Minaj and Trina.

SEAN KINGSTON NAMED IN ALLEGED GANG RAPE LAWSUIT!

TMZ is reporting Sean Kingston and his bodyguard gang raped a drunk teenager in the singer's hotel room back in 2010, according to a new lawsuit -- but Sean says it's B.S.

Carissa Capeloto -- now 22 -- claims she was forced to have sex with Sean, his bodyguard and a member of Sean's band at a Seattle hotel in July, 2010, after she had smoked pot and downed 7-10 shots of vodka.

Capeloto -- who has sued all 3 men -- alleges she'd been invited to Kingston's hotel room for a meet-and-greet following a Bieber concert -- where Kingston had also performed -- but when she showed up ... Kingston was waiting naked on his bed.

Capeloto claims the bodyguard picked her up and placed her on top of Kingston, and all three of the men proceeded to gang rape her while she was "obviously intoxicated, incapable of consent."

Capeloto says her friend later entered the room and rescued her. The police were called and Capeloto was taken to the hospital where she says she was treated for physical injuries consistent with rape.

She says her life has been ruined ... she can barely sleep, has mood swings and panic attacks.  Capeloto wants $5 mil minimum.
BTW ... criminal charges against Kingston were dropped in 2010 after cops concluded Capeloto wasn't credible enough for a legit case.

Kingston has filed legal docs insisting the sex was 100% consensual.

Trial is set for November.

JAH BOUKS RIDING THE SUCCESS OF "ANGOLA"

ROOTS-reggae singer Jah Bouks is currently riding a wave of popularity with Call Angola, says performing at Saturday's Marcus Garvey Awards was timely given the song's strong message of black pride. "I feel grateful to represent for Garvey, who was a black king. His main focus was on Africa and black people and so is mine," he told the Jamaica Observer.

The Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA) event was held at Devon House in St Andrew. Jah Bouks performed Call Angola, a tribute to the southern African country which was ravaged by the fight for independence from Portugal during the 1970s.
But how did the 37 year-old Rastafarian vocalist — who has never been to Angola — come up with the inspirational lyrics? "I was by myself one day and the melody came to mind and the lyrics came shortly after. Call Angola is really about calling on the ancestors of Angola to strengthen and unite black people," Jah Bouks explained. He premiered the song during this season's Magnum Kings and Queens Competition. Although he did not win, the single has become one of the summer's biggest songs.

Call Angola was produced by Bouk's 'momager' Patrica 'Zyon' Panton, who also produced his previous singles Cry Fi Di Youths Dem and Don't Cry.
Bouks, whose given name is Worren Shaw, was born in St Thomas, which has produced several roots-reggae acts such as Tarrus Riley, Bushman and Natty King.
"I have been doing music since I was 12...I have lots of songs but Call Angola is the one that the people take on to. It is the song that give me my musical break," he said.

MAVADO ALLEGEDLY REFUSED TO PERFORM IN GUYANA

Dancehall deejay Mavado is alleged to be a no-show at a Guyana booking on Sunday. According to Stabroek News (Guyana newspaper), Mavado was booked to perform at "Slingerz Summer Jam" held at the country's national stadium in Providence, the artiste, however, opted to stay in at the Princess Hotel in disgust of his muffled travel arrangements.

The article went on to say that, allegedly a jet was supposed to pick up Mavado from Jamaica, however, what should have been a 3 hour flight turned into a 19-hour flight, "cramped small plane with no bathroom" stuffed with Mavado, the promoter and his 16 man team. It's stated the plane was diverted several times, for refueling, and eventually had to land in Trindad due to clearance issues. The promoters allegedly state that Mavado missed his flight, and that is what led to the last minute arrangements.

NOW! Despite these claims, Mavado, who is no stranger to Guyana, had several tweets on his twitter page promoting the event, and even had a picture performing, we cannot confirm whether or not the picture was from said event, however, this report is quite contradicting. Some of his tweets (@Mavado_Gully ) read;
"Guyana we nah mek dem stop wi joy....National Stadium tonite I shall be there just $1000 entry"
"Guyana coming like mi second home, the people always show me crazy love, could never let you down. National Stadium tonite"

This picture, that was posted 6 hours ago, caption was  "Guyana mi place. Promote this show in 24 hrs an look pon people. "

No official statement has been released from Mavado or his management team regarding these allegations. Mavado is known best for hits like, "Real McKoy","Dying", "So Special" "On The Rocks" and "Star Boy".
